Always Work Hard

Everyone should spend time by themselves real briefly to start their day. It is simply the best way to begin a new day! With that said, not everyone deserves to go out and spend time on a little getaway vacation like I do in the Ozarks. I don’t say this to be condescending, but it is very true.

There are too many people in this world that have a sense of entitlement and are not willing to put in serious work. I know I have been encouraging you all to go spend a weekend away, and I still am, but I am also encouraging you to put in work! One of my best friends who lives here in Missouri loves to get away to the Northwest. He thinks it is beautiful. He also says, “If you aren’t driven to do your best and you don’t preform at a high level in whatever it is that you do, I don’t personally believe you should be taking time to go on a mini getaway.” What I think you should do, is sit in your room or go to a local coffee shop alone and rearrange your priorities.

Responsibility & Sustainability

If you have been following my blog then you know that I love the Ozark Mountains. They are very close to my heart and I spend a lot of time up there in isolation. If you haven’t read my post about why alone time is so important please do. If you have, then you know what I am talking about and why I do it.

In this post I just want to touch on a concern of mine. We are destroying our earth and eliminating much of its quiet and beautiful places. No I am not a hippy or a tree hugger but I do care about the sustainability of our world. I also care about having beautiful, natural and peaceful environments preserved for the sake of people’s minds. Having these places flourish is crucial for people to be able to get away from urban areas and their busy daily lives. A huge way we are destroying many of these wonderful locations is through poorly managed forestry companies and organizations. Our world is falling too much timber in an unsustainable way and in result we are losing many of our natural forests and mountain ranges.

I would like to say thank you to a local San Antonio tree service for practicing ethical and smart forestry. They provide a lot of lumber for their area but they do so in a way that does not leave a huge footprint on our unique and valuable mountain ranges and forests. I believe more organizations as well as our government need to act in the same manner that this tree company is. They can find ways to be just as profitable and provide our nation with just as many products while focusing on the long-term sustainability of our earth.

Solitude Improves Productivity

Did you know, it is proven that when people are alone they can focus much more and be way more efficient. That is generally a pretty common know fact. Well, then why do not many people do it? I think part of it is because people don’t want to be alone because many don’t want to work hard. I also think it is because we are so caught up into the business of society that we actually forget we are often more productive when we are alone.

One of my good friends owns several companies, one of them being a luxurious limousine company. He does not hire very much management for any of his businesses because he likes to oversee his employees. This can make life hard on a business owner. He has to take care of a lot more of the logistics and issues. Well, he claims that when he is by himself in an isolated place with no distractions, he can just crank out work.

Beauty Of The Ozarks

I know this isn’t that relevant to alone time or quiet time, but these mountains are important to me. They are what inspired me to go spend time alone and time with God. I searched Youtube for a video that could show some of this mountain ranges beauty for those of you who have never seen these mountains. There were not a ton of videos, but here is a decent one I found with some great pictures:

On my next trip up, I will bring a camera and snap some photos for you guys. It really is a fantastic place. Again, you do not have to go away to a place like this to spend time alone, it is just something I enjoy doing. I do recommend going somewhere that is peaceful and quiet and isolated from the world every now and then tough. There is just something special about it. Thanks for keeping in tune with my blog! I sure love sharing with you. Don’t skip over the video, trust me you won’t want to! It is short don’t worry.

How To Spend Your Quiet Time

There are many ways to spend time all by yourself. For some people, especially younger generations, they have no idea what to do with themselves when they are all alone. I find that funny, but I also find that sad. So, if you are willing to give some consistent daily alone time a try, here are some ideas as to how you could spend it so it can enhance your daily life.

Why Alone Time Is So Important

quiet time when life is busyAs said in my previous blog post The Ozarks, the world is a busy busy place and people are caught up in the midst of it. Being busy is not a bad thing, but if you are always going at 100 miles per hour and never taking time to be alone, it can be detrimental to you.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe that God wants people to spend quiet, 1 on 1 time with Him. This, along with the beauty of the Ozark Mountains is the main driver as to why I spend time away from people and society. My get aways to the mountains don’t happen that often but I do make sure to spend at least 10 minutes on my own every morning before I start my day. I read my Bible and spend time in prayer with God. Spending time alone is the best way for me to speak to God and for me to listen to what he has to tell me.

Regardless of whether you are a Christian or not, spending time in isolation for just a few minutes each day is so beneficial for your mind and well being. It allows you to slow down and feel at peace. It reenergizes you and makes you feel ready for the day ahead. It can be a time where you simply get to relax. It can also be a time where you better yourself.

The Ozarks

alone time

As I said in my about page, the Ozark Mountains are an extremely large mountain range in the middle of the state of Missouri. They are gorgeous and are where I spend a lot of my time. The Ozarks are what inspired me to spend time by myself. I am a very outgoing and busy person, but I often got overly stressed. As I started to spend more time by myself up in the mountains (I am not a mountain man, I would simply drive and hike up) I began having more control over my life. I wasn’t as stressed. I felt much more rejuvenated and dealing with and helping other people became more of a joy than a hindrance.

This blog will be about how I have benefitted from spending quiet time up in these mountains, and how you can improve your life by spending time alone as well. The world is simply too busy. We are beings that were created by God to interact with others, but we were also created to spend time by ourselves and time alone with Him. If you want to reduce your stress levels, feel more energized and be happier then I highly suggest you tune into my future posts.
