This past year, the car display featured participants and visitors coming from twelve states. People visiting Hot Summer Nights are going to have an up close and personal look at over 90 motorcycles and nearly 500 cars every night of the event. As reported by the organizers, whenever the cars and motorcycles line up from end-to-end inside the middle of the Strip, they extend for more than a mile from the Dam to the Boulevard.

Coordinators hope to meet or exceed last year’s numbers and want to motivate show car owners, classic car owners and motorcycle owners of every kind to come out and be a part of the show on the Strip. Children are going to have a wonderful time at Hot Summer Nights as well, and may get a kick out of attractions including clowns, face painting and the artist that sketches unique cartoon portraits of any child that is under 10 years old. Three Rivers Run

On the 13th of July 13th, at 7:30am thirty-six riders climbed aboard their own personal watercraft on the Osage River down below Bagnell Dam for what has become known as the Three Rivers Run. This is a day long ride loaded with fun, fellowship and amazing sights of the Osage, Mississippi and Missouri rivers. The 210 mile voyage starts with every participant trying to sell raffle tickets in order to win a brand new Polaris ATV. Every rider needs to raise at least $1,000 in order to take part.

The Osage River is regarded as the more beautiful of the three, however it is often the more challenging based on the volume of water being released by Bagnell Dam. With low water levels you will find gravel bars in areas you may not be expecting, and that means you need to stay alert and observe the experts of the run that are experienced with the course.  The Mari Osa Delta is also challenging, although the more aggressive riders and thrill seekers always enjoy this section every year. Some choose to go over the spillway hoping for a smooth landing below.

After that it is down to the Missouri and it’s wide open race through the barge buoys. An intermittent pause to have a drink with fellow competitors forms bonds that tend to last for many years. Next there is a stop for lunch in Washington, Missouri at the gorgeous riverside park having food provided by Chico’s Mexican Restaurant.

The shortest leg of the journey is on the Mississippi with a few miles through the canal leading to Alton Lock and Dam. Right after everybody goes in as a team, they close the gates and raise the water levels.  Then the chutes open to show the riverfront of St. Louis and just about 5 miles more to get to the Gateway Arch.
